What to Expect

During your first visit, I will ask you about your general health and any current symptoms. We will discuss any previous health conditions or other factors that may be contributing to your current issues. I will then carry out a physical examination including appropriate orthopaedic, neurological, postural and muscle testing to help determine the cause of your problems. I will then explain the findings and discuss what treatment is recommended and how chiropractic can help you.

Often a short course of treatment sessions is recommended, depending on the nature of your issues, your current health and other factors.

At each appointment I will provide a tailored treatment using a variety of chiropractic and other techniques, as appropriate to you and your condition - to help you get back on track. I use McTimoney and other diversified chiropractic approaches to realign the body and incorporate the use of massage and other soft-tissue release techniques to relieve muscle pain, tension and other issues. I also give advice on how to look after yourself following a treatment session and how to help reduce the chance of having issues in the future.

Your comfort and well-being are of the highest importance. During an appointment you may be asked to remove some clothing for examination and treatment. Treatment gowns and privacy are provided and your confidentiality, dignity and well-being are assured at all times.

Your first appointment will usually include chiropractic treatment (unless treatment would not be appropriate) and at subsequent appointments we would discuss and assess your progress and continue with your course of chiropractic treatment. The length of each appointment is based on clinical need, but as a guide you should allow about 1-1.5 hours for your first appointment and 35-45 minutes for further appointments.
